How the One Piece Card Game began
Bandai's One Piece Card Game arrived in Japan in July 2022 and in English that December. It brought the art of Eiichiro Oda's manga and the anime to a fast game of Leaders, DON!! and Life, with a new booster about every three months since.
Who makes it
The One Piece Card Game is made and published by Bandai, the Japanese toy and game company behind several other card games based on anime. One Piece itself is the manga by Eiichiro Oda, published by Shueisha in Weekly Shōnen Jump since 1997, and adapted into the long-running anime by Toei Animation.
It is not the first One Piece card game. Bandai also made an earlier One Piece card game in the 2000s. The 2022 game is new and separate, with its own rules and cards.
Oda confirmed that the new game would use art from the manga itself, alongside scenes from the anime and the films.

Starter Decks (ST) are ready-to-play decks, some called Ultra Decks or Starter Deck EX. Promotion cards come from events, magazines and other products.
Rare cards are often printed again as Parallel versions with alternate art, and the rarest are Special, Secret Rare, Treasure Rare and Manga Rare cards.

Tournaments and rotation
Bandai runs official events from store tournaments up to regional and national championships, ending in a World Final in Japan. The Championship 2024 World Final was held on 16 March 2025 at Makuhari Messe.
Every card carries a block number. From April 2026, Standard tournaments only allow recent blocks, so the oldest cards rotate out each year. Cards reprinted in The Best Vol. 2 stayed legal.
The game today
By late 2026 the English game has seventeen numbered boosters, three Extra Boosters, two Premium Boosters and more than thirty starter decks. In January 2026 cards were even given away at college basketball games, starting at Rutgers.
Every release is on this site's timeline, and every card can be opened from its set page.
